Inspiration for Living Room Makeover

In the spirit of the new year, one of the things I have committed to is to create a home space that I look forward to returning to. A space that is welcoming, serene and helps me to erase the clutter of my work day. A place where I can be present with my children, quiet my mind and feel refreshed. A place that will enhance my minimal night time routine. Part of this involves decluttering our primary bedroom and the kids spaces, but one space I really want to refresh is our living space.

Paint colors

My inspiration for our living room makeover colors is white, pale warm gray and muted sand that for me brings a coastal vibe. I am aiming for a sense of hygge in our little city apartment.

Sofa

I have looked into stain-resistant “performance” upholstery and have decided to brave the world of light-colored furniture in order to achieve this vision. Because I happen to be visiting the Pottery Barn and West Elm outlets near me, I’ve been mulling over the Pottery Barn Big Sur and Pottery Barn Jake Sectional which are both super comfortable.

Accent Chairs

I’m still looking into accent chairs which bring some fun and quirkiness, but overall still align with the clean, minimalist aesthetic. The West Elm Phoebe Chair really fits the bill but this is also intriguing. My husband would love something more industrial and masculine like this which I have to admit, I also love. And then as always, when I browse Anthropologie, I find myself inspired by the most unlikely things.

Pillows

And of course, I have my eye on chunky knit throws and inviting plush pillows, boucle or jute poufs and these sphere pillows.

Coffee table

We would keep our marble coffee table (similar one here) and we don’t have room for side tables anyway.

These are the main items that fit into our tiny living room so even these small changes are enough to give the space a re-fresh, inspiring us to unwind at the end of the day.
